We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light. – Plato
The words of this ancient philosopher, born some four hundred years before the birth of Christ, are as true today as they were then.
I offer a poem taken from my memoir, “I’m Afraid.”
Guard Against Annoyance
Annoyance leads to Anger.
Anger leads to Resentment.
Resentment leads to Hatred.
Hatred leads to Revenge.
Revenge feeds the Ego.
An overstuffed Ego
Swells with Pride.
Pride comes before the Fall.
The Fall is into Darkness.
Too much time spent in the Darkness
Results in rejection of the Light.
Rejection of the Light leads to
Loss of the Soul.
I offer these thoughts for your consideration.
Welcome to my world!
