Children of Fear

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. – H.P. Lovecraft

Fear has spawned many children; one of his favorites is Uncertainty who enjoys traveling with his sibling, Worry- Fear’s most insidious child.

Together they are a formidable, often overwhelming threat to Patience; they frequently leave him beaten and bloody on the ground.

 Meanwhile, physical therapy,

At least, something to do.

Regardless of the pain.

After a month they say I can go home.

“How soon will I be better?”

“Four weeks, six weeks, two months?”

“We’re not sure.”

“Be patient.”

After five months we go to Mayo,

Mecca, the best.

Four days; more tests; same answer:

“We’re not sure; time will tell;

“Be patient.”

I have been a patient patient,

But what about my own patients?

Will they patiently wait for me

To return? – Excerpt from “I’m Afraid”

I offer these thoughts for your consideration.

Welcome to my World!

The saga continues in my next blog.
