Is Trust Enough?

Trust is the glue of life. It is the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It is the foundational principle that holds all relationships.

I have spent decades trying to understand the nature of my two major disabilities, to learn how to cope with and hopefully accept them as integral parts of my life.

Over the years I have sought the help of medical professionals, family, friends, and, especially, my wife.

Patience, humility, cooperation, and forgiveness have been stalwart allies along the journey.

Trust, perhaps, has been the strongest, yet, at times, the most elusive ally to embrace and keep close.

I have discovered that even trust is not enough in the struggle against these disabilities and the fears that accompany them.

Only total commitment and total surrender of my fears to the God I always have known and believed in, despite my endless questions and doubts, is enough.

It is enough. But is it possible to unconditionally surrender my fear and my fate into the hands of another, even God Himself? I do not know. But I do know that I want, and need, to try. – Excerpt from “I’m Afraid”

I believe that total commitment and total surrender require trust. It is the linchpin, the glue that binds them together and makes them one.

I offer these thoughts for your consideration.

Communication, I believe, is the key to understanding one another.

Consequently, I encourage you to share your thoughts and opinions regarding my blogs by posting them on this website.
