Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that’s the one that is going to help you grow. – Caroline Myss
“Friend Or Foe?” was the title of last week’s blog which was posted on my website.
I questioned whether Fear was an advocate or an adversary.
Today’s blog continues in that vein.
Without Fear, I would have turned my back on God. I would have no ladder, no artichoke, and no constant companion to keep me alert and aware. – Excerpt from “I’m Afraid”
Without Fear, I would not have sought God’s help; it would not have been necessary. I would have been more than capable of managing my treatment and therapy.
Without Fear, I would not have been willing to spend more than a decade building a ladder; I would have been in too much of a hurry to get well. Attempting to learn and practice patience and humility, good humor and mercy, trust and surrender would have been a waste of precious time.
Without Fear, I would have tossed the artichoke aside. Imagine spending years torturously peeling away layer after layer seeking its core, the heart of all my fears.
Without Fear, I would have been lulled into a state of passivity rather than one of well informed vigilance.
Without Fear and his offspring, I would have no stability, no purpose in my life. I would have only chaos. – Excerpt from “I’m Afraid”
I have learned that Fear has a split personality: he is both Friend as well as Foe.
I offer these thoughts for your consideration.
I encourage you to share your thoughts and opinions regarding my blogs by posting them at the bottom of the blog page marked: Leave a Reply.
