Fear is the most debilitating emotion in the world, and it can keep you from ever truly knowing yourself and others- its adverse effects can no longer be overlooked or underestimated. Fear breeds hatred, and hatred has the power to destroy everything in its path. – Kevyn Aucoin
Fear is a powerful emotion. It has the potential of being intimidating, overwhelming and, at times, paralyzing.
It gives rise to indecisiveness, suppresses self-confidence, precipitates mistrust, and causes one to question one’s own thoughts and judgment.
Fear of any kind can be incapacitating; left unchallenged, it can be devastating.
Fear, in addition, can generate frustration, anger, or worse as one of my favorite poems demonstrates.
Guard Against Annoyance
Annoyance leads to Anger.
Anger leads to Resentment.
Resentment leads to Hatred.
Hatred leads to Revenge.
Revenge feeds the Ego.
An overstuffed Ego
Swells with Pride.
Pride comes before the Fall.
The Fall is into Darkness.
Too much time spent in the Darkness
Results in rejection of the Light.
Rejection of the Light leads to
Loss of the Soul. – Excerpt from “I’m Afraid”
No one is immune to this side of Fear, especially those who see themselves as invulnerable, self-righteous, and vindictive.
I offer these thoughts for your consideration.
